Company Overview
- iCarCover is a fast-growing DTC eCommerce brand in the automotive accessories space, operating across multiple channels including Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, and other online marketplaces with high monthly sales volume.
Job Description
- We are seeking a Junior Backend Developer to help build a next-generation Warehouse Management System (WMS) designed to solve one of the most critical problems in e-commerce operations: inventory inconsistency.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow beyond basic API development and gain hands-on experience building data-critical, event-driven systems. You will work closely with the senior backend engineer to design and implement backend services that ensure accurate inventory tracking, real-time synchronization, and scalable system performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement backend services for inventory management (inbound, outbound, adjustments, transfers)
• Build and maintain a single source of truth for inventory across multiple systems (Shopify, OMS, WMS)
• Develop APIs and services to handle real-time inventory updates and synchronization
• Implement event-driven workflows using message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) where applicable
• Identify, debug, and resolve inventory mismatches and data inconsistencies
• Ensure data integrity through proper transaction handling, idempotency, and concurrency control
• Integrate with external systems such as Shopify, shipping providers, and third-party logistics (3PL)
• Support AI-related modules by building reliable data pipelines and applying AI-generated recommendations
• Collaborate with frontend, operations, and product teams to deliver reliable system features
• Write clean, maintainable code and follow development best practices (Git, code reviews, documentation)
Requirements
• 1+ years of experience in backend or full-stack development (internship or project experience is acceptable)
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Node.js, Python, or Java)
• Experience building RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
• Basic understanding of transactions, data consistency, and concurrency
• Comfortable using Git (branches, pull requests, code reviews)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
• Able to work on-site in Fullerton, CA
Nice to Have
• Experience with event-driven architecture or message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Familiarity with Redis or caching strategies
• Experience integrating with Shopify, Amazon or other e-commerce platforms
• Exposure to WMS, ERP, or inventory systems
• Interest in system design, scalability, and performance optimization
What You’ll Work On
• Solving real-world inventory inconsistency problems at scale
• Building a reliable, event-driven backend system
• Integrating AI-driven recommendations into operational workflows
• Designing systems that go beyond the limitations of existing SaaS WMS platforms
Who You Are
• You don’t just build APIs - you want to understand how data flows through a system
• You are curious about why systems break, not just how to fix them
• You care about correctness, not just speed of implementation
• You want to grow into an architect who can design systems, not just implement tasks
Experience
• Backend Development: 1 year (Preferred)
• REST API Development: 1 year (Required)
• Database (SQL): 1 year (Required)
Work Location
• Fullerton, CA (On-site)
