Your Role as a Barista
As a barista at ONE:SCAPE, you're not just making drinks—you're shaping the customer experience. From crafting exceptional coffee to maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, your work sets the tone for the day.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, steam wands, and brewing equipment safely and skillfully
• Ensure consistency in quality, flavor profile, and presentation of all drinks, whether it's a straight shot of espresso or a custom seasonal latte
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards to ensure a clean and safe environment
• Assist in light food prep (eg, pastries, toasts, breakfast items) as needed
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace during shifts, including restocking and cleaning stations
• Upkeep of all barista tools and machinery, reporting any technical issues to management promptly
• Ensure food prep stations, storage areas, and customer-facing displays are clean, organized, and restocked throughout the day
• Practice allergen awareness and communicate clearly with customers about ingredient content as needed
• Take orders efficiently, and ensure each guest feels seen and appreciated
• Provide efficient and friendly service from the moment a customer enters to the time they leave, including managing wait times with professionalism and poise
• Keep service and seating areas tidy, welcoming, and guest-ready at all times
• Use POS systems to process transactions accurately and handle cash and card payments
• Support your team during peak times with a can-do attitude and collaborative spirit
• Be open to learning new skills, recipes, and responsibilities over time
• Demonstrate empathy, patience, and genuine enthusiasm when interacting with diverse guests — whether it's a regular or a first-time visitor
• Resolve any customer concerns or complaints with professionalism and a service-first attitude, escalating to management when necessary
• Efficiently balance simultaneous tasks — brewing drinks, taking orders, restocking supplies, cleaning, and engaging with customers — without sacrificing quality or accuracy
• Actively listen to customer requests and preferences, accurately relaying modifications to drinks or food
• Stay calm, focused, and professional during high-volume service hours, adapting quickly to changing situations without compromising service standards
• Use pressure as a motivator to maintain high performance and sharp decision-making
• Participate in ongoing training and actively seek feedback to continuously improve your skills and service mindset
• Take ownership of your role and workspace, upholding the café's reputation for quality and professionalism

Qualifications
• Prior barista experience is preferred, but not mandatory
• Please list all relevant experience, even short-term or part-time roles
• Hands-on familiarity with specialty coffee is a plus
• High school diploma or GED is required
• Barista training or certifications (eg, from SCA or coffee workshops) are a plus
• Must be available to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand for long periods and perform light lifting (up to 25 lbs)
