Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated ESL Director to lead the academic and operational excellence of a growing English language education institution. The ESL Director will provide strategic leadership, oversee academic programs, ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, and foster a high-quality learning environment for students and faculty.
Responsibilities
- Leading the development of strategic plans, academic program proposals, and institutional reports, and implementing initiatives to support continuous improvement and mission fulfillment.
- Serving as the institutional representative in all official communications with accrediting bodies (CEA), licensing agencies (BPSS), and educational partners.
- Overseeing the entire CEA accreditation cycle, including annual reports, self-study preparation, standards compliance, and site visit coordination.
- Maintaining and reviewing institutional records and preparing documentation for government offices and accrediting bodies (e.g., BPSS applications and updates, SEVP notifications, curriculum changes).
- Providing leadership and oversight to academic programs, including faculty performance, curriculum consistency, instructional resources, and student academic outcomes.
- Working closely with the Academic Coordinator to ensure effective implementation of the curriculum, monitoring of student achievement, and smooth delivery of academic services.
- Reviewing student performance metrics (e.g., pass rates, progression, retention, and dropout data) and guiding academic teams in making evidence-based improvements.
- Approving institutional policies related to academics, admissions, attendance, refunds, probation, and student conduct in consultation with relevant departments.
- Overseeing the updating, publication, and distribution of school-wide documents including student and faculty handbooks, school policies, catalogs, and orientation materials.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as the regulations of all accrediting and licensing bodies.
- Facilitating interdepartmental communication and coordination between academic, administrative, admissions, and marketing teams to ensure organizational effectiveness.
- Supporting the COO and PDSO in regulatory matters such as SEVP compliance, student records review, and I-20 oversight.
- Working with the Academic Coordinator, Administrative Coordinator, and agents to ensure timely processing of admissions, readmissions, withdrawals, leave of absence, and resolution of student grievances or conduct violations.
- Participating in institutional planning by assessing school-wide operations, contributing to data analysis, and making strategic decisions based on mission-aligned goals.
- Staying current in the TESOL field and regulatory landscape to lead innovation in curriculum design, instructional practices, and compliance strategies.
Performing additional administrative duties as needed to maintain the efficient and professional operation of the school.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in ESL, TESOL, higher education, language education, or academic administration.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or program management experience in an educational setting.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience managing academic programs, educational operations, or faculty teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and student-centered environment
- Korean language proficiency preferred
- Bilingual or multilingual candidates are strongly preferred
- Excellent written communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
Preferred
- Master’s degree or higher in TESOL, Education, Applied Linguistics, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in educational leadership, academic administration, or ESL program management.
- Previous experience as an ESL Director, Academic Director, Program Director, or similar leadership role.
- Experience with accreditation, compliance, and educational administration.
- Familiarity with international student programs and English language institutions.
- Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and student success strategies.
