Dear Ms. Kim,

I need your help with some immigration issues. I applied for CPT and I got approval to work for 20 hours a week during the semester. However, I want to know whether I can work for 40 hours a week during the semester. I am a full time student and I will graduate in Aug 2013.

I have a job offer as a plant manager for a laundry business and they require me to work 40 hours a week. I really want to keep this job to support my tuition fees and living expenses. I need to start working on November 7.

I heard that there is work authorization, and I would like to know more about it or perhaps you may give me any additional information or advise to legally maintain my immigration status.

You may contact me at 1-702-521-3051 or limhoymin@yahoo.com

Thank you very much and I appreciate your prompt reply. Have a good day.

Kind regards,

Hyomin Im

CPT is issued based on what you claimed on the application and based on the endorsement of the Designated Officer of the School. It is part of your course work from which you earn academic unit credit.  It is also my understanding that you cannot change it after its issuance as to the terms of employment.  I believe speaking with your DSO would be more helpful. Do NOT take my words as final.
