오바마 대통령을 비롯하여 많은 스타들이 홈리스들을 위해 나섯다!!!
1센트의 기적!!! "A PENNY OF LOVE"
2015년 새해가 시작된 지금 미국 로스엔젤레스의 한 회사(www.bigtms.com)가 시작한 도네이션에 미국 전역에 화제가 되어 세계 모든 사람들에게 감동이 전해지고 있다.
현재 이 영상에 나오는 많은 인물들이 우리가 잘 아는 미국대통령 오바마를 비롯해 로빈윌리암스,브레드피트,맷 데이먼,조지 클루니,오프라 윈프리등 세계 톱 스타들의 사진 영상이 나와 화제가 되고 있다.
”A penny of love”는 타이틀로 시작된 도네이션은 길거리에서 노숙을 하며 지내는 홈리스를 돕자는 취지로 시작한 행사로 현재 미국 켈리포니아를 중심으로 많은 홈리스들이 동부의 추위를 피하여 몰려오는 시점에 이들은 잠자리를 구하지 못해 켈리포니아의 겨울 한파를 추운 바닥에서 지내며 생활하고 있다.
미국의 홈리스들을 위한 정부가 제공하는 정부시설이 잘 되어 있지만, 많은 이들을 수용 할 수 공간은 부족한 것이 현실이다.
길거리에 1센트가 떨어져 있어도 잘 줍지도 않고 카드사용이 많은 미국에서 1센트는 애물단지같은 존재인데,1센트가 모여 1불,100불이 된다는 생각에서 시작된 이 행사는 기부에 대한 새로운 개념과 1센트의 소중함을 다시 알려주는 계기가 되고 있다.
이 영상에 나오는 톱 스타들은 모두 평소에 홈리스뿐만 아니라 전 세계 어렵고 힘든 이들을 위해 기부를 앞장서는 인물들인 것으로 밝혀져 많은 이들의 감동과 동참에 힘을 실어주고 있다.
이 기부를 진행한 사람은 자신이 다니는 회사와 상관없이 혼자 독단적으로 진행한 사람이어서 더욱 화제가 되고 있는 것도 사실이다.
이 도네이션의 뮤직비디오및 음악(DREAMS TOGETHER)등을 기획하고 진행한 bigTMS직원(henry choi,한국태생)의 말에 의하면
“전 원래 그들과 같은 홈리스 였습니다. 가끔 내가 원한 삶이 아닌데도 제 뜻대로 삶이 가지 않았습니다. 전 자신이 너무 싫었고 세상 사람들이 저에게 등을 돌린 것 같아 모두 밉고 신도 원망했었습니다. 저만 왜 이렇게 살아야 하는지에 대해서요. 하지만, 그 힘든 시기가 지나고 저를 인정해준 지금다니는 회사(www.bigtms.com)에 취직을 하게 되었습니다.회사를 다니고 월급도 받고 생활을 하다보니 제가 힘든 시기에 같이 지냈던 이들을 매일 보면서도 일부러 외면하고 지나가는 제 자신에 대해 부끄러워졌습니다.제가 이들을 위해 해줄 일이 무엇일지 고민하던 중 이번 도네이션을 기획하게 됬고 음악은 저희 회사 회원인”프렌시스”가 무료로 도와주었고 뮤직비디오는 제가 직접 만들었습니다.이 영상에 나오는 많은 스타분들과 오바마 대통령은 이들을 위해 많은 힘을 쓰시고 많은 도움을 주고 애쓰는 고마우신 분들입니다.이 분들께 정말 감사하단 말씀을 꼭 전하고 싶습니다”

이 도네이션 영상의 볼거리는 스타들의 눈빛에서 뭍어나오는 진실된 마음을 느낄 수 있으며,영화"메트릭스"로 잘 알려진 영화배우 키에누 리부스가 이들과 같은 홈리스의 모습으로 벤치에 앉아있는 모습은 이들과 우리는 다를 바가 없고 가끔 인생은 자신이 원하던 삶의 방향으로 가는 것만은 아니라는 영상에 나오는 자막 문구와 의미는 우리의 삶의 인생에 대한 생각을 다시 한 번 하게 한다.
홈리스들!! 그들은 불쌍한 사람이 아니라 우리의 가족이고 친구이며,이웃이라는 이 영상에 담긴 메세지와 마지막 대통령 오바마 “YES WE CAN”라는 문구는 홈리스들의 삶만을 이야기하는 것이 아닌 우리 모두가 할 수 있다는 희망의 메세지가 아닌가 싶다.
우리 모두 “A PENNY OF LOVE”에 동참하여 한 사람 한사람이 모여 큰 힘이 된다는 것을 보여주길 바랍니다.

Including President Obama, many stars began to participate in helping the homeless people.
A miracle of a penny!
As the year of 2015 starts, a donation event started from a company (www.bigtms.com) located in Los Angeles became a nationwide sensation which is touching the people all over the world. A lot of celebrities in this video include the pictures of Robin Williams, Bred Pitt, Damon, George Clooney, and Oprah Winfrey not to mention President Obama.
This donation event starts with a title of “A Penny of Love” was established for the purpose of helping the homeless people on the streets. As we know, a lot of homeless people moved to California to escape from the chilly cold in the East and many of them who could not find their shelters are still living in the streets in the dead of severe California winter.
Even though the U.S. government has tried to provide facilities for the homeless people, we still lack space for them to endure this severe winter.
We do not care the coin of penny on the street and it has become a nuisance for most Americans who prefer to use their credit cards. However, this event started with an idea that we can make $1, $100, and even $1,000 when we collect the penny we have kept for nothing and it reminds us of a new concept of donation and the importance of 1 penny.
One of the attractive scenes in this video in which Keanu Reeves is sitting on the bench with the homeless people sends us a message that we are the same people as they are with a phrase that our lives do not always go as we wish
The famous stars appearing in this video have already participated in various charity and donation events to help the needy people around the world including many homeless people. And their participation in this event is moving many people who have no interest in helping the homeless people.
This event has become a topic because the person who started this donation event set up this event independently regardless of his company.
According to the employee of Bigtms (Henry Choi) who planned and produced the music video and music (Dreams Together),
“I was once a homeless too like them. Even though I did not want, I could not direct my life to the way I had wanted. I hated myself and thought that the world turned its back on me. I hated all and blamed God. Why should I live like that? However, after I could overcome my hardship, I was luckily hired by my company (www.bigtms.com) and they accepted me warmly and recognized me sincerely. As I began to work and get paid enough for my living, I began to forget about my miserable past and turn my face away from the people I had been with during my hard time. I felt ashamed. And I thought that I had to find a way to help them.
That’s why I planned this donation event and “Francis” helped me produce the music for free and I made the music video myself. I want to express my thanks to my company managing this event and making a donation. Above all, many celebrities including President Obama appearing in this video of “Dreams Together” are the people I should express my sincere appreciation. I really want to say “thanks” to them.”
